The Baltic Pipe project aims to enable the transport of gas from Norway from a tie-in to the existing Europipe II in the Danish North Sea to the export facility in Zealand. The pipeline in the Baltic Sea towards Poland is not included in the contract. The Baltic Pipe project is planned to be fully operational by 1 October 2022.

DNV GL’s contract scope includes independent verification and submarine pipeline certification to the DNV GL certification regime DNVGL-SE-0475. The acceptance criteria are the Danish Continental Shelf Law, DNVGL-ST-F101 and the suite of underlying DNV GL standards and recommended practices. The work will take place during the engineering, procurement, construction, installation, hook-up and commissioning phases.

The contract will be coordinated by DNV GL’s offices in Denmark, with a global network of DNV GL verification experts supporting the construction in fabrication sites across the world over the next three years.

DNV GL’ s independent third-party verification will support Energinet in ensuring transparent project status and the real-time reporting of components and equipment-salient points. The technical assurance services provided will enable Energinet to manage all their project risks towards achieving first gas supply in Poland by 2022.

Energinet Baltic Pipe Director Søren Juul Larsen, said: “We have chosen DNV GL to aid us with mitigation of project risks and enhancement of the level of safety, and we look forward to working together.”

“The Baltic Pipe project is extremely complex with many stakeholders. It involves a wide range of technical disciplines that requires both local and global support,” said Ben Oudman, Regional Manager for Continental Europe, Eurasia, Middle East, India and Africa, DNV GL – Oil & Gas. “Drawing on our global and local presence, we will utilize our worldwide network of technical experts to provide on-demand support.”
