NSG Engineering builds success with Sesam software
When NSG Engineering started up in Brazil more than a decade ago, the founders rapidly brought in DNV's Sesam software for structural analysis of fixed and floating structures to provide the basis for their exceptionally wide range of services, helping them deliver more cost-effective services.
Since NSG Engineering was founded, the innovative company has led projects involving pioneering solutions in infrastructure for the offshore industry, dedicated to creating pathways that combine safety, efficiency, and sustainability in maritime, offshore, and subsea engineering.
Growth based on the most versatile solution
When starting the company, Aidin Sarabi, NSG's Director, had more than a decade of experience in providing engineering services for the oil and gas and renewables industries. In his previous company he had been using software that would not meet their new needs. With Victor Barbosa NSG's Engineering Manager, they began to look for what would be the best software for their engineers.
“Our primary analysis tool had reached its limitations, particularly when dealing with pushover analyses, floating structures, and offshore wind projects,” says Aidin, the Director of NSG Engineering. “The need for constant workarounds made it clear that we were hitting a ceiling,” he says.
Based on that experience, they were determined to start off on the right foot. The engineers knew they needed one software package that could take care of their main needs, one that could perform non-linear pushover analyses, both for fixed and floating structures, and one that could be used not only for design, but also for life extension.
“We started with internal benchmarking,” says Aidin. “We started talking to clients. In some of our project work outside of Brazil, we were working with people who had come from BP and Atkins Engineering. They spoke very highly of DNV, and about Sesam software specifically. They knew the benefits.”
“From day one at NSG, we adopted Sesam as our primary structural analysis suite, ensuring we had a robust, future-ready platform to support our ambitions,” says Aidin.
Aidin is working on building a lean, high-performance engineering firm. His focus is on strategic growth, technology adoption, and expanding operations both in Brazil and internationally.
