Qualification of thermoplastic composite pipes
Two-day training course into the design and manufacturing of thermoplastic composite pipes according to DNV-ST-F119 – an industry-leading standard for the use of TCPs in offshore and processing applications.
DNV's Technology Centre in Oslo is a leader in the qualification of polymer and composite material solutions for critical applications. This training course is a deep dive into DNV-ST-F119, our standard (ST) for thermoplastic composite pipes (TCP), which allows operators to qualify and use TCPs instead of metallic pipes in critical applications. TCPs hold the potential for substantial cost-savings at all stages of the product life cycle. The innovation of this standard is to cover key aspects of TCP applications under one governing document that encompasses the strict safety requirements of the offshore industry. This brings uniformity, shared understanding, and safety across the value chain and the many applications.
The course covers the following key aspects of TCP qualification:
- Design and safety philosophy of TCPs
- Use and determination of partial safety factors
- Short- and long-term testing requirements
- Failure mechanisms and design criteria
- Explanation of the design analysis workflow with examples
- Overview of the qualification process including documentation requirements
Learning objectives
- Understanding the philosophy, structure, governing principles, and workflow of DNV-ST-F119
- Ability to plan and execute material and product qualification according to DNV-ST-F119
Target group
Operators, producers, materials suppliers, and service providers working on pipelines and risers with a focus on design, structural integrity, and materials.
Private/bespoke training
We offer a private/bespoke version of this course for groups of participants (e.g., a company) with specific needs and wants regarding course content and details. This option allows to focus on specific use-cases and provide the course to interested parties who cannot attend the regular course dates. Please take contact to discuss options.
