Effective implementation and verification of the efficiency of a safety management system, as described in the ISM Code, requires periodical internal audits. The approach to and scope of an audit differs widely from an inspection.
This course will provide shipping and offshore company employees with the knowledge and tools necessary for managing and conducting internal audits in line with ISO 19011 - Guideline for Auditing Management Systems.

- Audit principles and best practices
- Planning audits
- Initiating and preparing for an audit
- Conducting on-site audits, including interviewing techniques
- Reporting and follow-up after an audit, incuding handling of non-conformities and understanding root cause analysis for corrective actions
