Objectives

This one day training gives an in depth understanding on how to strategise and manage global tenders and contract negotiations in the liner shipping sector. It will assist shipping company staff working in tender, key account and global account departments, as well as shippers’ freight procurement and global account department representatives in their daily work handling tender documents and negotiating contracts. 

 

Entrance requirements

Previous commercial experience in shipping is recommended

Who should attend:
Managers and future managers working in trade/commercial departments in shipping companies or within sea freight procurement departments in manufacturing or freight forwarding companies.

Duration: 1 day

 

Are you struggling with contract negotiations and the handling of global seafreight tenders? This course will take you through all the preparations for managing global tender documents, including answering RFI’s once the initial tender is received, how to gather all relevant information including actual seafreight quotations, transit times, det&dem, payment terms, legal aspects and environmental requirements (RFQ).

At the end of the programme, participants will have a clear understanding of how to organise their tender departments, how to prepare in advance of receiving tender documents, how to address all relevant points needed in the tender documents, meet the requested deadlines and understand different forms of tender management. A brief overview of non-tender contract negotiations is also included.

Further training recommendations for continuing professional development on global sales strategies and non-tender contract negotiations are also available upon request.

This course will be led by an experienced maritime consultant who previously managed a global tender department in the liner sector and conducted tender training programmes.
