ESG & Management Systems: Systematic Path to Sustainable Impact
A one‑day course providing a contemporary overview of the most relevant and related standards and certification schemes supporting the sustainability agenda and ESG‑related initiatives.
The course introduces participants to the key concepts of ESG, including its political and historical context viewed from a business perspective, as well as its origins and underlying foundations: Global Compact, UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), EU legislation, and EU Green Deal.
The Foundation training also provides a contemporary overview of the most relevant and related standards and certification schemes supporting the sustainability agenda and ESG‑related initiatives. This includes:
- Understanding the context: Key concept of ESG and its political and historical context (30 min)
- Trends and drivers: The role of the standards and certification and most influential frameworks (e.g. SDGs, UN Global Compact, Circular Economy and Rebound Effect) (30 min)
- Walk through of the most important ESG reporting frameworks. (e.g., GRI, ISSB, CSRD, VSME) (45 min).
- How management system standards and the Harmonised Structure can be used as a framework for targeted and systematic ESG efforts (2 hours).
- How you work with and implement double materiality assessment in your management system (1 hour).
The course will be carried out through a combination of presentations, exercises, dialogue and experience exchange. The course design will thereby aim to ensure a high level of interaction between the trainer and the participants and to provide a practice-oriented perspective.
The course design is based on the understanding that learning is - on the one hand - an individual process with individual outcomes, but is - on the other hand - initiated through interaction with the trainer, other participants, the subject matter, existing knowledge, and experiences from current and previous jobs.

- How ESG had evolved to the concept today.
- The main frameworks regulating the environmental and social area.
- How the Management System can be used to implementing ESG requirements in companies.
