Interim versions of amended regulations available in IMO-Vega online

The online version of IMO-Vega is extended with interim and consolidated versions of the regulations which were amended by MEPC 73 in October 2018 and by MSC 100 in December 2018.

Relevant for Design offices, shipyards, suppliers, owners/managers, flag states of all ship types. 

The IMO-Vega Database, developed by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and DNV GL, puts all the necessary information on safety and pollution prevention requirements applicable to ships.

IMO-Vega has been updated with PDF documents in which the latest amendments have been marked. These PDF files will be available until the next version of IMO-Vega is released in May 2019, when the PDF documents will be replaced by this regular update.

The regulations amended by this add-on include MARPOL Annex VI, STCW Code Part B and SPS Code for ships certified before 2008-05-13. The PDF files can be found under their respective portals in IMO-Vega (SPS Code under Other Codes).

Recommendations

We recommend our customers to use the updated (pdf) versions of the relevant regulations until next version of IMO-Vega is available in May 2019.

Anchor losses are on a negative trend – How to improve

IMO Maritime Safety Committee (MSC 104)

The 104th session of the IMO’s Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) was held remotely from 4 to 8 October. The requirements for watertight doors on cargo ships were harmonized, and the Japanese Quasi-Zenith Satellite System was recognized for the provision of position, navigation, and timing services. The MSC also initiated the development of a goal-based instrument for autonomous ships, and the development of guidance for remote surveys and audits.
