DNV and EGPC partner to advance pipeline safety and operational excellence through digital transformation

Digital Solutions at DNV and the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), alongside partners Siemens and Enxpert Energy, have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to modernize Egypt's petroleum pipeline infrastructure through advanced digital technologies. This collaboration will leverage DNV's industry-leading digital solutions, including Synergi Pipeline Simulator’s Digital Twin and real-time monitoring capabilities, to enhance pipeline safety and operational efficiency across Egypt's 7,000+ kilometre network.

Transforming critical energy infrastructure

The partnership establishes a comprehensive framework for integrating digital solutions into the Petroleum Pipeline Company (PPC) operations, one of the region's most extensive pipeline networks. DNV will provide real-time linepack management, pipeline process tracking, sophisticated leak detection solution, and advanced planning capabilities powered by Synergi Pipeline Simulator’s predictive analytics.

This three-phase modernization program represents one of the most significant infrastructure initiatives in the region, positioning the country as a leader in pipeline safety and digital innovation. The initiative directly supports Egypt's strategic role as a hub for petroleum transport and storage while empowering PPC for expanded domestic and regional operations.

"This agreement reflects EGPC's commitment to modernizing, securing, and sustaining its petroleum transport and storage infrastructure. By integrating the latest technologies from Siemens and DNV, we will achieve an adequate safety standards and operational excellence, reduce violations and theft, and strengthen Egypt's role as a regional energy hub," said EGPC CEO, Eng. Salah Abdel Karim.

The collaboration enables EGPC to streamline safety assessments, enhance operational decision-making, and establish new industry standards through data-driven insights and predictive capabilities.
