ISO 20001 Food Loss and Waste Management System Foundation Course
Requirements for the minimization of food loss & waste across the food supply chain
A two-day foundation course based on ISO/DIS 20001 that provides a framework for improving food loss and waste management and supporting sustainability goals.
ISO 20001 is a new international standard for food loss and waste management system (FLWMS) . It is currently in development and expected to be released very soon. It introduces a common language for defining, measuring, and reporting food waste that can be applied to the whole food supply chain from farm to fork irrespective of the size of the organisation.
The standard is compatible with other management system standards like the ISO 9001 & ISO 22000. As per ISO organization, this standard contributes to the following Sustainable Development Goals:
- Zero Hunger;
- Good Health and Well-being;
- Clean Water and Sanitation;
- Responsible Consumption and Production;
- Climate Action;
- Life Below Water.
This foundation course is based on the ISO/DIS 20001 which provides a framework for FLWMS through which an organization can deliver performance improvement, meet local regulations (if any on FLW) while contributing to its sustainable business management policy, objectives and commitments.

The course lasts 16 hours including breaks. For online/virtual training, there will be a 10-minute break every 90 minutes plus a lunch break. For classroom training, coffee and tea breaks are provided in the morning and afternoon along with a lunch break.
The course design reflects a high level of interaction between the trainer and the participants. We teach you using instructor-led interactive quizzes and case studies/group activities, along with self-reflection activities on your own processes/organizations when applicable.
