DNV ranked second among all IAOB-recognized certification bodies

DNV was ranked second among all certification bodies recognized by IAOB at a ceremony in Novi, Michigan on 30 September 2025. Being a runner up in IAOB’s “External Balanced Scorecard” recognizes DNV’s strong performance in meeting the high standards set by both IAOB and IATF to improve safety and reliability in the automotive industry.

The International Automotive Oversight Bureau (IAOB) develops and maintains the global oversight framework for automotive quality management systems and administers the certification scheme that promotes consistent performance across the supply chain. Its primary focus is to improve the quality and on-time delivery of parts to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) worldwide.

IAOB also acts as one of the oversight bodies for the IATF 16949 certification scheme – the global automotive quality management system standard. Building on ISO 9001, IATF 16949 adds industry-specific requirements designed to ensure consistency and quality across automotive supply chains.

DNV achieved top scores across all key performance indicators (KPIs) set by IAOB and the scheme owner, International Automotive Task Force (IATF). This strong result reflects DNV’s ability to surpass balanced scorecard targets, ranging from managing underperforming suppliers and effective audit scheduling to expanding resources and maintaining database accuracy.

At DNV, continual improvement is a principle we live by to help our customers progress. We are deeply proud of this award, which stands as clear evidence of our steadfast commitment to helping the automotive industry ensure that vehicles are safe and reliable. It also reinforces our motivation to further strengthen trust and drive continuous improvement across the IATF 16949 scheme and automotive supply chains,” says Sherif Mekkawy, Global Accreditation Manager, Aerospace & Automotive, in DNV.

DNV is an accredited certification body for the IATF 16949 scheme and is the selected certification body for many automotive manufacturers and suppliers worldwide to ensure quality, safety, and reliability throughout their value chains.
