Is DNV authorized for the new IMO survey and certification scheme for anchor handling equipment?

Answer:
Answer: The scheme is an extension of the existing SOLAS convention, and our existing agreements with flags will in general provide the basis for the service. We are cooperating with relevant flags to facilitate the setup, e.g. supporting their preferred options in our Flag portal.

What are the key differences between the current DNV class notation for anchor handling equipment and the new IMO requirements?

Answer: Our class notation Offshore Service Vessel(Anchor handling) aligns with the new IMO requirements for systems and equipment, but in addition, the class notation includes hull and stability requirements.

Are there flag states accepting other competent persons than an RO Surveyor to conduct tests and thorough examinations?

Answer:
Answer: Yes, the Norwegian flag state administration has informed us to also accept NMA Competent Persons to conduct these services, instead of the RO. In this case, DNV will not list the anchor handling equipment in the DNV survey status and the NMA Competent Person shall provide, issue, endorse and maintain the Certificates of Test and Thorough Examination (and Statements) as required by MSC.1/Circ.1662.
