First e-methanol public tender

DNV will host an open tender to offer long-term access to e-methanol, contributing to the decarbonization of industry, transport and chemicals in line with the EU RED III framework. The process aims to provide a transparent and structured platform where all interested market participants can take part on equal terms.

DNV is facilitating an open tender process to offer long-term access to renewable e-methanol, supporting the decarbonization of industry, transport and chemical sectors in line with RED III and Fit for 55 targets.

This tender provides a transparent and structured framework for all interested market participants to engage on equal terms. Through the process, qualified offtakers will have the opportunity to secure long-term supply contracts (10–15 years) under clear and competitive conditions.

The producer’s identity will remain confidential during the initial stages to ensure fairness and equal access for all participants.

Product scope

  • The e-methanol offered will comply with RED III requirements for RFNBOs.
  • Total volume offered: Up to 450,000 tonnes per year.
  • Start of supply: 2H 2028.
  • Product quality: AA grade.
  • It will feature a very low carbon intensity (CI) score, ensuring compliance with sustainability standards and alignment with net-zero strategies.
  • Fixed pricing mechanisms will apply; detailed commercial terms will be provided in the RFQ package.
  • Production will be fully certified from the outset, ensuring traceability and long-term supply stability.

Who can participate

This tender is open to all companies interested in securing reliable e-methanol supply, including maritime operators and bunker suppliers, industrial users, traders and distributors of renewable chemicals, and organizations pursuing credible net-zero strategies.

Process overview

  1. Expression of interest: Interested companies submit the registration form. Based on these applications, a longlist will be prepared and the Tender Dossier will be shared, including instructions for submitting a non-binding offer.
  2. Qualification (non-binding): Evaluation of received submissions and preparation of a shortlist of candidates.
  3. Direct discussions: Shortlisted companies engage under the Tender Participation Rules and Calendar.
