DNV-ST-B203 Additive manufacturing

The objective of this standard  (ST) is to provide a framework of requirements and guidelines relevant to the processes associated with additive manufacturing (AM) of metallic and polymer parts, to achieve a specified and consistent level of quality.

This standard includes requirements and guidance for the:

• procurement of additive manufacturing (AM) products including minimum purchasing requirements, management of information and documentation
• technology specific qualification of additive manufacturing processes and parts
• quality management by manufacturers of AM parts and suppliers
• production, testing, and inspection of AM parts.

In addition the appendices in this standard include informative provisions related to the:

• selection of additive manufacturing categories (AMC) for parts
• design of parts using additive manufacturing
• calculation of carbon footprint or AM parts
• qualification of new inspection and non-destructive testing (NDT) technologies for AM parts
• definition of inspection and test plans for powder bed fusion (PBF)- and direct energy deposition (DED) processes.
