The standard (ST) specifies general principles and requirements for the design of floating wind turbines.
The objectives of this standard are to:
- Provide an internationally acceptable level of safety by defining minimum requirements for structures and relevant components in the context of floating wind turbine
- Serve as a basis and reference document for third party assessment of design, construction, and in-service inspection, namely:
- Classification of floating wind installations according to DNV-RU-OU-0512 utilizing the approach of classification of ships and floating structures
- Certification of floating wind turbines according to DNV-SE-0422 utilizing the approach of certification of offshore wind turbines and wind farms
- Support certification of floating wind turbines according to other certification schemes
- Serve as a contractual reference document between suppliers and purchasers
- Serve as a guideline for designers, suppliers, purchasers and regulators
- Supplement existing standards for the wind and offshore industry for application on floating wind turbines.
