IACS URs for cyber security and their implications for newbuildings

Our maritime cyber security webinar on 26 February 2026 will focus on the new IACS cyber security requirements and the significant obligations they introduce for vessel design, construction, and system integration.

The introduction of the IACS Unified Requirements (UR) on cyber security marks a major shift for the maritime industry, with the rules now applying to all ships and offshore installations contracted for construction from 1 July 2024 onward.
These cyber security requirements introduce significant new obligations for how ships are designed, constructed, and integrated with direct impact on yards, designers, and system suppliers.
 
After more than 18 months of practical implementation across real newbuilding projects, DNV has gathered extensive insights into what these requirements mean in day‑to‑day engineering, documentation, and supplier coordination.
