Building new energy commodity supply chains in APAC: Successful case studies

As the Asia Pacific region accelerates its path toward net zero, new energy commodities which include hydrogen, ammonia, sustainable fuels and carbon dioxide for sequestration are emerging as essential solutions, particularly for hard-to-abate sectors.

Date: 17 March, 2026
Time: 10:00 - 11:00 SST
Location: Online

We invite you to join us for this webinar, where we will move beyond the vision outlined in our recent report to focus on the practical implementation of the energy transformation. Together, we will examine what it takes to scale new energy innovations across the Asia Pacific, highlighting how DNV enables emerging energy supply chains to expand on time for net zero ambitions, while ensuring safety and reliability throughout the value chain.

Agenda and speakers

  • Port decarbonization – Ports are vital to our region's energy transition with as our white paper, “The role of new energy commodities in decarbonizing Asia Pacific”, demonstrated that 189 new ports and 1,221 carriers worth of capacity are required to support new energy commodity trade in the region. Learn more about some of the projects that we have worked on with port operators.
Jonathan Abrahams, APAC Head of Maritime Advisory Australia and New Zealand, Regional Practice Lead ESG/Sustainability, Maritime, APAC, DNV
  • CO₂ transport and storage infrastructure – CO₂ receiving terminals are vital to APAC’s energy transition, enabling cross‑border carbon transport and regional CCS value chains. This webinar shares DNV’s insights on ensuring the infrastructure is safe, reliable and compliant, key knowledge for advancing sustainable energy in Asia Pacific.
Sheng Xiaoxia, Technical Lead, Principal Engineer, Energy Systems, APAC, DNV
  • Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) as a new energy commodity – SAF must credibly scale in Asia Pacific by embedding safety and sustainability across production pathways. In this session, we will explore practical implementation measures: findings on SAF safety, how process facilities are being de‑risked and how permitting support is enabling new technology pathways to reach the market.
Lee Dong Jun, Engineer, Energy Systems, APAC, DNV

Why attend?

Hear from DNV experts on how our new energy commodity research is being put in practice. DNV recently published research outlining how hydrogen, ammonia, sustainable fuels and carbon sequestration will be responsible for over 25% of emissions reductions in Asia Pacific by 2050. We have been working with organizations across the region to commence this vital part of the energy transition.

We are turning ambition into action. DNV expects 81% of new energy commodities to be traded and scaling these fuels will require vast investment in ports and ships as well as funding and pragmatic mechanisms for cross-border interoperability across the region.

Catch up on industrial decarbonization progress. We will recap key findings from DNV's recent publication 'The role of new energy commodities in decarbonizing Asia Pacific'.
