Matthew Forwood is appointed Country Manager, Energy Systems, Australia and New Zealand at DNV

DNV is pleased to announce the appointment of Matthew Forwood as Country Manager, Energy Systems, Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) at DNV, effective 1 January 2024. This announcement follows the news that after more than 12 years of leadership, Dr Graham Slack has decided to step down from his role as Country Manager, Energy Systems for ANZ at DNV.

Matthew will be accountable for DNV’s Energy Systems Advisory & Verification market leadership, and for growing the impact of DNV as a trusted voice to tackle global transformations. He will also be responsible for ensuring that team capabilities continue to develop to support customers through the energy transition in ANZ.

With over 25 years of experience in ANZ, DNV has established itself as a trusted partner in the energy industry operating in oil and gas and power and renewables. Over the years, DNV has navigated the challenges and opportunities presented by the ever-evolving energy sector, steadily growing its presence in ANZ. Today, the company's workforce in ANZ comprises of 170 highly skilled professionals. This growth has been driven by the company's ability to adapt and meet the changing needs of major players in the energy sector.

Graham Slack also shared, “It has been a privilege to play a part in helping to bring DNV know-how about many different energy technologies to ANZ. As the structure of Energy Systems has evolved, the breadth and depth of expertise in so many different fields has become ever more apparent.  It has been immensely satisfying to witness the development of the many talented people, past and present, who have been part of the ANZ story. So much still to be done, but I am confident that under the new leadership the team will continue to make a difference.”  

Matthew Forwood joined DNV in 2022 through the acquisition of Clean Technology Partners where he was the Chief Operating Officer. He is currently the Head of Project Engineering & Due Diligence for DNV Australia & NZ. Matthew is a chartered civil engineer with more than 30 years’ experience across a wide range of projects in Australia, Asia and Latin America. Matthew has worked in the renewable energy industry for more than 15 years and has a deep understanding of the drivers across the full energy value chain.

Matthew has a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in civil engineering from the University of Melbourne, Australia and an MBA (Hons) from the Australian Graduate School of Management and is a Fellow & Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) with Engineers Australia. Matthew will continue to be based in DNV’s Melbourne office.
