DNV GL at Nor-Shipping 2015

Learn about the latest maritime technologies, services and solutions with DNV GL at the Nor Shipping trade fair in Oslo. A comprehensive programme of presentations and events throughout the week cover topics from battery and hybrid technology, innovative designs for container vessels, optimising design and operation performance through to the new DNV GL rule set and much in between.

Performance in today’s market

The week kicks off with a press conference on Monday morning, where DNV GL – Maritime CEO Tor Svensen will share insights into future market challenges, digitalization, alternative fuels and hybridisation, as well as the new DNV GL rule set. On Thursday at the Press Flash event DNV GL experts and customers will be presenting exciting new projects, including Hyundai Heavy Industries’ design for a container carrier with a movable superstructure, Oshima Shipbuilding Company’s LNG-powered bulk carrier concept vessel, the new Energy Management Study 2015 and a position paper on the next generation of maritime fuels.

Insider Insight

The DNV GL Forum brings together leading industry figures to discuss the issues at the top of the maritime world’s agenda. Knut Ørbeck-Nilssen, COO of DNV GL – Maritime, will open the Forum, which includes an examination of the global outlook for the industry and panel discussions on “Operational best practice, current and future regulations” and “The connected ship, from hype to improved ship performance”. Drop-in on DNV GL

DNV GL’s drop-in seminars give you the opportunity to learn about topics that were touched upon during the week in greater detail. The agenda includes a seminar on hybrid and battery technologies, an update on ballast water treatment and a seminar on the new DNV GL rule set. Presentations also cover how bulker owners can gain insights to improve day-to-day operations related to safety and compliance from our operational experience, a glimpse at where the industry is headed from the conclusions from our updated “Shipping 2020” report and the performance management solution ECO Insight, which can help customers monitor and improve the performance of their fleet (see below for more information). The seminars, which take place on the 3rd and are repeated on the 4th of June, are free of charge with no registration required.  With more than 2,500 guests, the Nor-Shipping Barbecue is one of the social highlights during the week. Hosted by DNV GL at our headquarters in Høvik, it is an excellent networking opportunity that attracts some of the most influential people in the industry.  Trade fair visitors can also take part in the new charity Fun Run on Monday, organized by The Mission to Seafarers and Nor-shipping for the first time this year. About 500 people will run for five kilometres along the coastline, through the city centre of Oslo and cross the finish line at the Norwegian Maritime Museum. A portion of the proceeds from every ticket is donated to The Mission to Seafarers.
