Building on years of market-driven development, Synergi Liquid is the evolution of Synergi Water. The new name pays homage to our roots. 50+ years ago we launched a hydraulic modelling tool designed for all Newtonian, non-compressible liquid products called Liquid Steady State (LQSS). The tool has evolved over the decades but the ethos of the product and our vision remains unchanged.

Import directly from common GIS formats. Synergi Liquid is a hydraulic modelling application for potable water systems, liquid pipelines and water transmission systems. The pipe network can be imported directly from common GIS formats with the use of a separately licensed module-Model Builder. Once imported, the network spatially matches the source data and incorporates the ESRI visualization and mapping technologies that make data and results viewing intuitive and actionable.

Comprehensive software for water and liquid modelling. Synergi Liquid is the most comprehensive water and liquids modelling commercial software available. Included in the base software package is steady state analysis, extended period simulation, fire flow analysis, water age and water quality analysis, unidirectional flushing, pipe design, pump optimization, leak detection all in a spatially accurate geographic map view. Water quality analysis incorporates multi-species modelling, temperature modelling and PODDS into the base application for advance water quality modelling. Pump optimization capabilities leverage the electric rate schedules to determine the most cost-effective pump speeds and schedules.

Synergi Liquid was developed to model any Newtonian, non-compressible liquid product and continues to be used by midstream companies across the globe. Some of the features most useful in this industry include thermal properties, drag reducing agents, liquid properties, multi-fluid systems, heat transfer modelling, production and injection well characteristics, complex boundary condition handling, pump viscosity corrections and scripting capabilities to define and control even the most complex operational scenarios.

Consequence analysis tool. Yes, users of Synergi Liquid can do more than water quality analysis. Synergi Liquid has a separately licensed module for performing reliability analysis which includes consequence analysis of a main break and leaking pipe. The Reliability Module incorporates the Synergi Liquid extended period simulation engine which is critical to accurately analysing impacts of water main failures. The results of the analysis are crucial to the determining the high consequence areas of the network and provisioning for contingency plans and capex priorities..

Real-time modelling configuration. The real-time modelling configuration of Synergi Liquid is designed to calculate and maintain age of water and other water quality parameters are part of the real-time modelling algorithm. Thus, the hydraulic model is able to provide users with simulated water quality analysis results system-wide as part of the overall analysis process.

Water quality analysis. Yes, Synergi Liquid includes a comprehensive set of integrated features for water quality analysis. Recently Synergi Liquid incorporated the ability to model the interaction of multiple substances including and not limited to chlorine, chlorimine and ammonia. Turbidity analysis utilizes the PODDS (Prediction of Discolouration in Distribution Systems) developed at the University of Sheffield, UK and adopted by many UK water utilities as the standard for turbidity modelling. Synergi now includes the Pipeline Flushing Module for developing unidirectional flushing sequences to minimize water loss and customer complaints related to pipe flushing.

Yes, Synergi Liquid module LIQT  is the industry-leading hydraulic transient modelling solution for water hammer analysis and surge events. The analysis of pump shutdowns and valve operations can determine the impact to the distribution system in addition to providing analytics to size and select surge devices to minimize the impact of surge events. Synergi Liquid also lets you work seamlessly import and export Synergi Pipeline Simulator (INPREP) files to maximise the power of steady-state modelling.

Interval meter data. Synergi Liquid includes a separately licensed module, the Customer Management Module, for incorporating residential, commercial and industrial customer demands in the hydraulic modelling application. The current design of CMM accommodates monthly read meters however in an upcoming release we plan to incorporate the ability to load interval meter data as an output from meter data management systems or CIS.

Integrating data. Integrating data from SCADA or SCADA historians can be facilitated by our Operations Link Module (OLM) directly to the hydraulic model in Synergi Liquid for water quality analysis. OLM polls real-time data sources and updates model conditions based on actual measured data. Balanced models can be solved and published to web maps and executive dashboards for operational use and for more complex use cases our Synergi Liquid Solver provides an application programming environment for developing situational awareness applications.

Heating and cooling calculations in Synergi Liquid are part of the core modelling package.  They are user-controlled options that are, by default, turned off.  However, they are easily enabled through the user interface. In fact, heating and cooling options are offered at multiple levels, so the user can enable only as many of these features as they deem useful and necessary.

No, Synergi Liquid’s core modelling package is versatile and robust so that it does not matter which type of system you are modelling.  There are several modules that extend the core functionality but they are feature-based, not system or fluid dependent. Synergi Liquid models a wide range of fluids and system types without the need of any add-ons.
