DNV and PFPNet have joined together to offer a Passive Fire Protection Awareness course. The course couples together the detailed knowledge and industry guidance of passive fire protection (PFP) developed by PFPNet together with DNV providing information and demonstration of the hazard the PFP protects against.

The course is tailored to improve knowledge and understanding of the role of PFP from specification and certification through selection and installation to management of aged and damaged PFP.

Course overview
The course offers delegates the opportunity to learn about LNG releases, fires and explosions through a series of lectures and demonstrations. This is overlaid with an understanding of the role PFP can play in protecting against those hazards. A more detailed development of knowledge about PFP is provided in lectures that detail how PFP products are developed and certified and what this means, how suitable PFP products are selected based on the potential hazards, the installation of PFP systems together with pitfalls and why detail is important and finally, information on aged and damaged PFP systems including weathering and defect assessment.
