The impact of new Texas weatherization standards

In 2022 the State of Texas implemented new regulations requiring weatherization by power generators. These requirements offer many benefits, in particular, increased grid reliability in the face of extreme weather events.

The need to comply with the weatherization standards raises some uncertainties for generation owners in Texas. As wind and solar resources continue to grow in Texas, developers and operators are focused on ensuring they have a complete understanding of the regulations’ requirements, and the resultant impacts on risk management for current and future projects.
