DNV GL supports Clean Energy for EU Islands to explore, shape and act on the path towards net zero

The EU Islands Secretariat will help advance their transition agenda.

The second phase of the Clean Energy for EU Islands Secretariat has just been launched by the European Commission. DNV GL is part of the Secretariat that aims to enable European islands to implement their decarbonization projects and to have a real impact on local and European energy transition processes.

Building on the work and lessons during phase I, DNV GL will, together with its project partners, further help islands to move beyond their transition agendas and energy strategies towards project implementation. As part of its toolkit, the Secretariat will have a knowledge platform where stakeholders can find information on partners, suitable technologies, regulations and finance to help advance their transition agenda. DNV GL will play a leading role in delivering the platform and contribute to guidance provided to islands across Europe.

Eelco Kruizinga, senior principal consultant at DNV GL, explains: “Building on the solid foundation of phase I, we are proud to be part of a team that is ready to help islands to transform their energy systems to be more sustainable, collective and decentralized. With COVID-19 restrictions still in place across Europe, we must rely on a solid knowledge platform to engage with islands stakeholders: DNV GL has the experience to deliver just that”.
