Workshop on Power Failure Investigations in Chile

Join us for the event on PFI - Power Failure Investigations in Chile, where DNV experts will address complex and diverse issues not only in power systems, but across the entire energy chain improving asset management systems.

Asset management is a key functionality of any business utility or entity for sustainable business continuity. So, asset managers set out policies, procedures so the practices to attain the reliable and safe operation of the assets, and people remain the prime contributors.

Yet, assets experience issues and failures during their service life for many reasons, which can range from minor to major impact, including financial losses, safety hazards, and even damage to the reputation of the entity. When it comes to major or significant effect, conducting a thorough investigation to determine the root cause of the failure is essential for preventing future occurrences and improving system performance. The minor shortcomings or issues also need attention, as they may appear as symptoms of significant failure or issues. The asset management system of the organization shall thus have well-established criteria for Investigation.

When we talk about an electrical network of any utility, small or large, the reliability of the network is assessed by the customer based on the reliability of the electricity supply in terms of quality, interruption duration and frequency. At times, the network also experiences partial or even full blackouts.

DNV designates the major failures as power failures, so call the investigation advisory services as “Power Failure Investigation” and more commonly as “PFI”.

DNV operates globally, with a presence in over 100 countries. DNV, as an independent advisor, has extensive experience in conducting hundreds of power failure investigations per year worldwide, ensuring that they bring a wealth of knowledge and best practices to each investigation.

The workshop will cover the following topics:

  1. How to identify the need for investigation?
  2. What are the key elements and requirements for the investigation?
  3. What is the process of investigation? Brief on the tools of the investigation
  4. What are the challenges of investigation?
  5. What shall be expected from the investigation?

DNV will share some case studies while expecting the same from the participants to make it more interactive.

Remote participants will only be able to be connected until 10:45 (coffee break) due to the confidentiality of the information from the 2nd party.
