Accelerating Clean Power and Electrification
I was honored to be invited and attend the World Economic Forum’s program on Clean Power and Electrification on accelerating the deployment of clean power and grid infrastructure in Washington DC last week.
Clean Power and Electrification
The Clean Power and Electrification forum included attendees from across North America, creating a unique opportunity to aggregate an end-to-end view of the industrial decarbonization effort including perspectives from both public and private stakeholders. The WEF-hosted day and a half in-person eventexplored key questions faced by emerging industrial clusters.
Accelerating the deployment of clean power and grid infrastructure
Central to the energy transition the acceleration of the deployment of clean power and grid infrastructure. Deployment of renewable projects and grid infrastructure is imperative to approaching net-zero emissions targets. In order to reach near net zero emissions targets, we need to deploy six times the number of projects deployed in the past 20 years over the next 20 years.
It’s like a having a car with the top speed of 110 mph now and asking it to have a top speed of 660 mph over the next 20 years. It's achievable, if we rethink the process.
The round table was in collaboration with the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL), and the World Economic Forum. The goal was to discuss solutions to regulatory and permitting challenges leveraging public-private cooperation.
Thank you to DNV, the World Economic Forum (WEF), Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) and Electric Power Research institute (EPRI) for the invitation to the event. I am grateful for the experience.
