DNV Grants Approval in Principle to HD Hyundai Mipo for 20K cbm LCO₂ Carrier Design

DNV has awarded an Approval in Principle (AiP) to HD Hyundai Mipo for its 20,000 cbm liquefied carbon dioxide (LCO₂) carrier. This AiP is another milestone in the development of next-generation CO₂ transport solutions in this rapidly developing vessel segment.

As part of the Nor-Shipping trade fair, DNV has awarded an Approval in Principle (AiP) to HD Hyundai Mipo for a new second-generation LR2 tanker design featuring a hydraulically driven cargo pumping system from Framo.

Vallourec’s Delphy vertical hydrogen storage solution receives technical qualification from DNV

Vallourec, a world leader in premium seamless tubular solutions, announces the official qualification of Delphy, its vertical gaseous hydrogen storage solution, by DNV. A world first, Delphy enables the storage of 1 to 100 tons of hydrogen under maximum safety conditions. Thanks to its minimal footprint, this vertical system - extending up to 100 meters underground - meets the challenge of complex and demanding industrial environments. It targets both green hydrogen producers and industrial players such as synthetic fuel producers (e-SAF, e-methanol), green ammonia producers, steelmakers, and refineries.

The 12th session of the IMO’s Sub-Committee on Navigation, Communications, Search and Rescue (NCSR 12), held from 13 to 22 May 2025, marked an important step forward in maritime digitalization. NCSR 12 finalized draft SOLAS amendments to enable digital data exchange over VHF (VDES), advanced the framework for the digital broadcasting of maritime safety and search and rescue data from shore to ships (NAVDAT), and agreed on draft guidelines for software maintenance and for the use of electronic nautical publications. Progress was also made on connectivity guidelines to support the next generation of electronic navigational charts (ECDIS S-100).
