Breakfast meeting on post-quantum cryptography (PQC) migration in practice

Quantum computers threaten the cryptography we rely on for digital security. We need to replace vulnerable algorithms with post-quantum alternatives, but where and how should you start this task in your own organisation?

To raise awareness of this challenge this one-hour breakfast meeting at Simula's Oslo office will provide you with a brief introduction to the problem of migrating to post-quantum cryptography (PQC) from a practical point of view.

In more detail, you will learn about:

  • Which types of cryptography need replacement (and which are still safe to keep)
  • How to identify and prioritise the most critical parts of your system
  • Approaches to PQC migration suited to different organisation sizes and risk profiles
  • A real-world case study showing what the transition can look like in practice.

The meeting is part of NorPQC, an RCN-funded joint project between Simula UiB and DNV Cyber for facilitating the PQC migration in Norway.

To get a good breakfast to start your day, sign up before 9 June.

This event is tailored for professionals responsible for safeguarding digital infrastructure and guiding cryptographic strategy within their organisation. We especially welcome CISOs, Cybersecurity Consultants, System Administrators, Security Engineers, IT architects or technical decision-makers. Whether you’re working in a large enterprise or a smaller organisation, if you play a role in preparing your systems for the post-quantum era, this session is for you.

Agenda:

Welcome & Introductions
Brief welcome and overview of the NorPQC initiative and upcoming workshops.

Understanding the cryptographic shift
What types of cryptography need to be replaced, NIST’s PQC standardisation process, and the algorithms being phased in.

Assessing critical infrastructure
How to identify the most vulnerable and high-risk components in your system

Tailored migration strategies
Different approaches for organisations that build their own cryptographic solutions vs. those relying on vendor products

Real-world transition
A practical approach of how a company could approach the PQC migration process – from risk assessment to implementation planning
