Identifying the need
In a detailed discussion with Vincit, DNV quickly understood how the company views cybersecurity as a key element of its business development strategy. It was clear that Vincit wanted to establish proper capabilities to detect and respond to cybersecurity events and continuously enhance its security posture.
“We want our customers to be able to rely on us in the broadest sense, not just covering the basics but also being able to help with expertise our customers may not necessarily have. Obviously, we have started with ourselves,” said Jakub Rudzki, Vincit’s CIO.
On the technology side, DNV’s initial services to Vincit have expanded since February 2025 to include Advanced Threat Intelligence (ATI). From DNV’s perspective, this aligns with its view that a SOC is not just a reactive capability. To support the governance of Vincit’s cybersecurity posture, the collaboration now also includes advisory services.
A truly functional and effective SOC merges four capabilities – identifying, protecting, detecting, and responding to cyber threats – into a single process based on a principle that DNV Cyber calls ‘Security Fusion’. It is committed to safeguarding an organization’s core business, fortifying its resilience beyond simply IT infrastructure, and with future-proofing in mind.
The ATI capability introduces a strong proactive component to the SOC, enabling continuous hardening of a customer’s cybersecurity posture. It provides an outside-in view of a customer’s environment and a holistic approach to cybersecurity.
Vincit’s CEO, Julius Manni, also shared his views on Vincit’s ambitions and thoughts on the partnership with DNV Cyber.
"Vincit strives to be the most trusted digital business partner for our customers. In today’s increasingly complex digital landscape, we recognize that world-class cybersecurity is a strategic cornerstone of that trust. It’s essential for ensuring the resilience of not only our own operations but also our customers' critical digital supply chains”, said Manni.
We sought a partner who is an undisputed leader in the field. With DNV Cyber, we gained a strategic ally on our mission to elevate Vincit’s cybersecurity to the top of our industry. By combining our expertise in digital business solutions with DNV's elite cybersecurity knowledge, we are proactively strengthening our capabilities and reinforcing the trust our clients place in us every day,” he continued.
Why Vincit selected DNV to pursue its strategy
In selecting a security partner, Vincit interviewed and met several. In addition to the cultural aspect, DNV matched Vincit's technical needs. This included being able to offer a SOC that is compatible with Vincit’s IT landscape, which would not tie Vincit to a single technology for a very long time, as the company evolves. Vincit also has a split IT infrastructure, bringing complexity into the cybersecurity equation.
“Our needs currently vary depending on the stage of different internal projects or offerings to our customers,” explained Rudzki. “DNV Cyber provides a pool of experts with various expertise depending on what we need, and this flexibility on the advisory side is very important for us. We are working mainly with only a few DNV consultants, but every now and then, there are others depending on what kind of questions or challenges we have.”
“That said, the most important deciding factor was DNV’s understanding and knowledge about Finnish customers and the Nordic region.” he added.
Building the new partnership
The human element is vital in building an effective partnership. “During the implementation of the contract so far, I’ve collaborated with many DNV experts from different countries. I always find the interaction to be very professional and reassuring,” said Rudzki. “And it’s proactive consultancy, which is very important.”
“We have found the relationship to be easygoing, transparent, and efficient. There was an immediate tendency to trust each other instead of having to develop it gradually,” said Jan Mickos, DNV Cyber’s Director of Managed Services. “A key strength is the engagement we receive from all levels at Vincit – from operations to the CEO and board – which enables strong governance over cybersecurity and resilience.”
“Our partnership with Vincit is open-ended, long-term, and built on a foundation of mutual confidence that’s remarkable given how early we are in the journey. While we’ve only taken the first steps, everything has come together quickly and smoothly. There’s a shared belief that this relationship will continue to grow. Vincit’s culture of trust has made a real difference,” concluded Niklas Nurttila, DNV Cyber’s Head of Managed Services Sales.
