FSSC 22000 Foundation and Internal Auditor Version 7

This course introduces the key requirements of FSSC 22000 version 7 and how to apply them to improve food safety performance. It covers the structure, core concepts, and practical application of ISO 22000 and related requirements for consistent compliance.

We walk you through the common ISO high level structure applied in the ISO 22000 standard and its specific requirements related managing food safety in your organization. At the end of this course, you will get a good understanding of the key definitions & concepts used in food safety management systems, the use of PDCA cycle in continual improvement, the structure of FSSC 22000 including Pre -requisite Programs (PRPs) & additional requirements.

You’ll learn to interpret and apply the key concepts and principles of the standard to existing processes within your organization & gain required knowledge on how to:

  • provide safe foods and relevant products and services that meet applicable statutory, regulatory & customer requirements in a consistent manner
  • address relevant risks & opportunities and demonstrate conformity to specified food safety management system requirements.

We also cover the purpose, structure and content of ISO 22000 and how it contributes to improving food safety and business effectiveness. The course focuses on the ISO 22000:2018 requirements and the related FSSC version 7.0 for which Additional Requirements have been significantly upgraded.

Subjects include principles of auditing, the competence and evaluation of auditors and the audit process as per ISO 19011 and ISO 22003-x with particular regard to; audit planning, conduct of audit and reporting with impact to the management.

Objectives

At the end of the course, attendees should have an understanding of auditing a food safety management system and in particular be able to:

  • Understand the requirements of FSSC 22000 Version 7
  • Explain the role of an auditor to plan, conduct, report and follow up a food safety management system audit in accordance with ISO 22000, ISO 19011 and ISO 22003, including ISO 17021 as applicable;
  • Understand requirements of prerequisite programs based on ISO 22002-x series as referred in ISO 22000 standard in the auditing context;
  • Understand FSSC version 7.0 additional requirements and updates
  • Describe the roles and responsibilities of auditors and lead auditors;
  • Plan and conduct an audit in accordance with ISO 19011, ISO 22003-x & ISO 22000 guidance documents;
  • Report the audit, including writing valid, factual, and value-adding non-conformity reports;
  • Undertake audit follow-up activities, including evaluating the effectiveness of corrective action.
