This is an additional service for DNV customers only. It is similar to the EEDI verification, where we have a preliminary EEDI which has to be approved at the design stage and a final EEDI after the performance of sea trials.
The preliminary EEXI service offers to issue the documentation on the EEXI at an early stage after the attained EEXI is calculated. The required improvement measure, i.e. the installation of an EPL, is to be described in detail but does not need to be installed at this stage. The preliminary EEXI Technical File will be approved by DNV, granting certainty to our customers that the planned improvement measure is suitable.
Just in time, prior to the coming into force of the EEXI requirements, the improvement measure must be installed and the preliminary EEXI Technical File can simply be amended to the EEXI Technical File and submitted for final approval.
