FSSC 22000 Version 7 Lead Auditor Training Course based on ISO 22000:2018 - Blended
A course designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to perform and lead first, second, and third-party audits of food safety management systems, including food quality controls, against the FSSC 22000 scheme.
This online/eLearning (Part I) and classroom (Part II) combination (blended course) gives you a unique opportunity to learn the basics of auditing at your own speed online and complete the training in the classroom. The learning outcome of this blended delivery option is the same as that of a 5-day classroom training.
It is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to perform and lead first, second, and third-party audits of food safety management systems, including food quality controls, against the FSSC 22000 scheme, in accordance with ISO 19011, ISO 22003-1, and ISO/IEC 17021-1, as applicable. The scheme includes ISO 22000, sector-specific requirements (ISO 22002-x series), and FSSC 22000 additional requirements.
This course has been registered and certificated by the CQI and IRCA Governing Body and satisfies the formal training requirements for individuals seeking registration under CQI and IRCA or other Auditor Certification Schemes.

Course setup:
- Part I: e-Learning modules (approx. 16 hours: including self-reflections & knowledge test). Delegates are able to access Part I as a pre-course activity via our Learning Management System 3 weeks prior to the classroom session start date.)
- Part II: 3-day Classroom session
- Assessment: Participant evaluation is through Continuous assessment during the complete training course and an online examination managed by CQI and IRCA at the end of the course. Exam details & special conditions by CQI and IRCA will be available to you online once enrol for the course.
This course has been divided into two parts:
- Part I - e-Learning Modules which covers:

- Purpose of an Audit.
- Auditing a Food Safety Management System.
This e-Learning part of the course will take you approximately 16 hours to complete, including self-studying activities in the modules and the final test (online). You can stop and restart the modules as many times as you wish, your work will be saved.
On successful completion of part I (70% score), the participant will be eligible to register for part II, 3 days classroom/virtual classroom module.
- Part II - 3 days classroom/virtual classroom modules covering:
- Feedback on the e-Learning module and the results of the test.
- Planning an audit with group and individual exercises.
- Executing an audit, with preparation and role-play.
- Reporting the results of an audit and presenting this to management in a close-out meeting role-play.

Objectives:
After successful completion of the course, attendees will have gained an understanding of:
- Explain the purpose of a food safety management system, of food safety management systems standards and the business benefits of the improved performance of the food safety management system, including its relationship with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of organisations.
- Explain the role of an auditor to plan, conduct, report and follow up a food safety management system, including food quality controls, audit within an audit programme in accordance with FSSC 22000, ISO 22003-1, ISO/IEC 17021- 1, and the guidelines in ISO 19011.
- Plan, conduct, report and follow up an audit of a food safety management system, including food quality controls, to establish conformity (or otherwise) with FSSC 22000 and in accordance with ISO 22003-1, ISO/IEC 17021-1, and the guidelines in ISO 19011.
Pre-requisites:
For successful completion of this course, it is expected that you have prior knowledge of the following management principles and concepts. This knowledge can be self-declared once you have enrolled to any of our lead auditor courses via the private area created for you using our LMS (Learning Management System). There are two attempts at the declaration.
- The Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA) cycle - the core elements of a management system and the interrelationship between top management responsibility, policy, objectives, planning, implementation, measurement, review, and continual improvement.
- The relationship between food safety management and the provision of safe food products to prevent or minimize adverse effects on human health and the proactive improvement of food safety performance.
- Principles of food safety management including prerequisite programs as specified in ISO 22002-x series and HACCP.
- Food Safety Management Systems requirements as per ISO 22000:2018 and FSSC 22000 version 7.
- The role of ISO 22003-1 in food management system certification.
- Awareness of the food chain categories and sub-categories in ISO 22003-1
- Awareness of common examples of relevant national and local FSMS legislation and requirements.
- Awareness of the food chain categories and sub-categories in ISO 22003-1 and FSSC 22000 Version 7.
