Training course: PRIME

One-day training course regarding power line communication (PLC) technology, covering history, scope and protocol details of PRIME.

PRIME is currently used for various large-scale smart metering projects in Spain and several pilot projects in other countries. It has also been adopted as a communication profile for the European Open Meter Project, which will pave the way for extensive usage of PRIME as communication standard in future smart metering projects.

This one-day course covers the history and scope of PRIME, as well as an elaborate treatment of the technical details of the protocol. Theory will be interspersed with practical examples and exercises.

This course is meant for engineers and other staff at utilities and distributors who need up-to-date knowledge of PRIME. For developers who are going to be involved in projects where PRIME is used, this course is a unique opportunity to accelerate familiarisation with the technology, helping projects get off to a quick start.

The course covers the history, background and scope of PRIME, as well as more technical matters such as the various layers 

of the PRIME protocol. Practical information – such as the equipment and set-up needed to test a PRIME implementation – is also provided.
