BARCELONA, Spain - 20 April 2017 - A consortium led by ACWA Power and TSK has selected GreenPowerMonitor to provide monitoring solutions to manage the 200 MW Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park in Dubai, the largest renewable energy power plant in the Middle East. GreenPowerMonitor, now part of DNV GL, will deliver PV SCADA, a supervisory control and data acquisition system built for utility-scale facilities.

The consortium consists of ACWA Power, a leading water and power developer, owner and operator based in Saudi Arabia and TSK, a Spanish engineering and construction company who has joined the consortium as technology provider. In 2015 the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) selected the consortium as first rank bidder to develop, construct, own and operate the solar photovoltaic independent power project with a net power capacity of 200 MW (260 MWp installed), located at Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, Dubai.

Ditlev Engel, CEO of DNV GL – Energy: “Solar is a huge and rapidly expanding market. Global installed PV capacity is expected to triple over the next five years. By joining forces with GreenPowerMonitor last year, DNV GL is perfectly suited to support the industry in its growth ambitions, by working with many different players to deliver excellence for our solar customers all over the world.”

“This is definitely the most important project in the Middle East and it is a privilege for GreenPowerMonitor to be part of it. We are very honoured” said Juan Carlos Arévalo, CEO of GreenPowerMonitor. This renewable power project will become the biggest solar power plant in the Middle East and is scheduled to begin operations during 2017.  It will produce enough electricity to power 30,000 homes and displace 469,650 metric tonnes of carbon emissions a year. The project forms part of the larger 1 GW Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which is expected to be completed by 2030. This is GPM’s first solar project in Dubai and obviously it will become a milestone project for GPM’s history in the Middle East.
