DNV completes successful concept verification review of Odfjell Oceanwind’s WindGrid™ floating wind power system

DNV, the world’s leading classification society, has completed a concept verification review of Odfjell Oceanwind’s WindGrid™ (WindGrid) system for Mobile Offshore Wind Units (MOWUs). DNV’s review confirms the technical feasibility of the WindGrid system, and that expected reductions in CO2-emissions for North Sea applications are in the range of 60-70%, compared to generation of electricity from conventional gas turbines.

New DNV research highlights 10 energy systems technologies that must work together to meet global decarbonization targets

DNV, the independent assurance and risk management provider, has highlighted how 10 key energy transition technologies are expected to develop, compete, and interact over the next five years if global economies are to meet emissions reduction targets. DNV’s aim is to make an objective and realistic assessment of the status of these technologies and evaluate how they can contribute to the energy transition ahead.

New marine aquaculture forecast: Offshore and onshore technologies gaining traction

Production of ‘farmed’ aquatic animals will more than double from 30 million tonnes per year (Mt/yr) liveweight now to 74 Mt/yr in 2050, according to the independent assurance and risk management company. DNV’s first Marine Aquaculture Forecast warns, however, that production will not meet demand in mid-century unless the industry tackles key sustainability barriers to growth by 2030.
