ISM Lead Auditor Training
To qualify participants as ISM lead auditors enabling them to plan, conduct and evaluate audits in accordance with accepted auditing principles.

This comprehensive training course (4 or 5 days depending on delivery mode) will enable participants to plan, prepare, conduct and evaluate Safety Management Systems on board and ashore in accordance with accepted auditing principles.
The course focuses on:
- ISM Code requirements and its intentions
- Risk Assessment
- Principles and best practices of audits and verification
- Techniques for the success of communication processes
- Planning preparation and performance of audits
- Recording, reporting and follow-up of audits
- Handling of non-conformities
Teaching and assessment:
By means of practical case studies, the preparation, performance and reporting of audits are all thoroughly covered and potential areas for dispute are discussed and explored.
There will be an assessment of the participants performance and a Certificate will be provided to all those who pass the final written exam.
Upon completion of this course the participants will have gained:
- Knowledge of the principles and objectives of the ISM Code
- Knowledge of the ISM Code certification scheme as agreed by IMO
- Knowledge of the ISM Code requirements and Auditors Guidance
- Knowledge of auditing principles and procedures
