Balancing the energy trilemma

Our DNV Energy Transition Outlook 2022 forecasts the energy future through to 2050. Despite the shocks associated with the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, the pace of the energy transition is driven by stronger forces. The transition will see an enormous infrastructure buildout, not least in the form of offshore wind. There will be a rising demand for ocean space not just for energy production, but also for aquaculture, transport and other ocean industries. We analyze the extent of this and its consequences. Digitalization is an important tool to realize the energy transition and to perform business in a sustainable way. We build trust in AI and simulation models and develop tools for ESG reporting to support companies to substantiate the reality of the claims they are making regarding ESG reporting. Sustainability is an integrated way in how to execute business in the right way, to secure financing and to win customers.
