The 27th Nordic Maritime Universities Workshop will be hosted by the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Kiel, Germany, on 28–29 January 2027. The workshop covers a vast spectrum of topics related to naval architecture, marine engineering, and maritime transport, and serves as a platform for researchers to present their work, exchange ideas, and explore emerging topics and methodologies.
In addition, the workshop will feature a special session dedicated to brainstorming innovative ideas for new or enhanced data-driven third-party assurance services. This interactive session aims to encourage creative thinking and collaboration among participants, with a focus on leveraging data and digital technologies to advance assurance solutions in the maritime industry. Attendees are invited to actively contribute concepts and discuss potential applications and future directions for these services. More details can be found here.
The workshop is presentation-only, with the possibility of a subsequent paper submission opportunity. We welcome presentations on relevant research topics. Preferred presentation formats include the following:
- “Advanced research” presentations, where PhD students or senior researchers present results from completed or ongoing projects – 15 minutes, including Q&A
- “Early-stage research”, where MSc and early PhD students describe their research project, their motivation, topic background, and intended results – 10 minutes, including Q&A
There is no registration fee for the workshop. All researchers from Nordic maritime universities are welcome to present their work and engage in dialogue with industry stakeholders and fellow academics across the region.
Further details about the program and the practicalities like accommodation and transportation will come in due time.
