DNV GL documentation changes and clarification of what to expect over coming months

Documentation changes

Over the coming months, the documentation issued by DNV GL will be changing.  The merger of the two companies has seen work processes aligned and it is now the time that the documents we distribute will start to be aligned too.

DNV GL will no longer issue certificates specifically for one product, but instead, a more generic style document will be delivered that provides a consistent format for all product certificates.  The same information that we previously recorded will be included but the layout of this information will have changed.

This will not change the validity of the product certificate in anyway.  If you have any questions about the new format please feel free to contact your local certification team and they will be pleased to assist you.

DNV 2.7-2 Revision
DNV 2.7-2 is presently being revised with plans to issue the updated document within the next few months.  The fundamental principles of the Standard remain unchanged.  A number of clarifications and previously released interpretations (resulting mainly from the valuable feedback from our Customers) have been incorporated into the body of the Standard, to assist in its application.

Part 3 of the standard (Structural requirements) has been re-formatted, enabling the easy determination of environmental loading, in relation to the vessel / offshore installation on which the equipment is expected to operate.

Alex Doig, Head of Section, Offshore Equipment and Structure says “Coinciding with the release of this latest edition of the Standard, it is our intention to hold a Customer Seminar for the purpose of highlighting the updates and clarifications made; invitations to this event will be issued once the date of release is confirmed.”
