Research project “Resource-efficient steel CONSTRUCTion using ADDitive manufacturing" (101057957)
The CONSTRUCTADD Final Workshop brings together experts from industry, academia, and public institutions to share the key outcomes of the European research project Metal Additive Manufacturing for Construction and Automotive Applications (CONSTRUCTADD), funded by the Research Fund for Coal and Steel of the European Union and coordinated by Politecnico di Milano.
This one-day, in-person workshop will present the latest developments in metal additive manufacturing (AM) for steel applications, with a specific focus on:
- Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF)
- Laser-Directed Energy Deposition (LDED)
- Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM)
Participants will gain insights into demonstrator design and production, component assessment, progress toward certification and CE marking, and environmental and economic performance.
What will be presented
During the workshop, participants will explore:
- WAAM tubular and tension cable demonstrators
- LDED demonstrators and production processes
- LPBF demonstrators for construction and automotive applications
- Component testing and assessment results
- Environmental and economic assessments, including scalability and break-even analysis
- Lessons learned and future outlook toward standardization
The day will conclude with a panel discussion and open discussion session.
Who should attend
This workshop is designed for:
- Researchers and academics
- Engineers and designers
- Architects
- Steel manufacturers and fabricators
- Automotive industry stakeholders
- Certification bodies
- Public authorities and regulators
Anyone interested in the industrial application, qualification, and standardization of metal additive manufacturing in steel structures and components will benefit from attending.
