The training will include examples of how CFD-based calculations can be applied to real-world scenarios, helping teams make more informed safety, design, and risk management decisions.

Wednesday, November 11, 2026

This complimentary training will introduce key Phast CFD extension capabilities through guided examples and practical discussion. 

Phast CFD – pool fires 

Attendees will learn how detailed modelling approaches may be applied to standalone pool fire scenarios, including: 

  • Immediate ignition of a pool fixed in size 
  • Circular and rectangular pool shapes 

Phast CFD – jet fires 

This section will introduce detailed modelling approaches for standalone jet fire scenarios, including how to: 

  • Define jet source terms 
  • Calculate source terms from pressure, temperature, and hole size 

Phast CFD – dispersion add-on 

This section will provide an overview of detailed modelling approaches for flammable, toxic, vapour, two-phase, and liquid releases. Topics may include: 

  • Presenting dispersion results using predefined and user-defined concentration and temperature levels 
  • Visualizing results through isocontours and isosurfaces 
  • Visualizing liquid and two-phase releases using spray droplets and pool depth 
  • Handling toxic release scenarios, including exhaust gas discharges and sour gas leaks 
  • Advanced CO₂ modelling, including dense phase CO₂ releases and dry-ice particle transport and sublimation 
  • Improved auto-gridding for large-scale release simulations 
  • Multicomponent modelling for mixtures 

An evaluation license will be provided for attendees participating in the training session.
