The new edition of the quality management system standard ISO 9001 is released

The revised ISO 9001:2026 has now been published, marking the first update to the world's most widely used quality management system standard since 2015.

The new edition reflects developments in business practices, organizational resilience, digitalization, and stakeholder expectations, while maintaining the familiar structure and core principles that have made ISO 9001 the global benchmark for quality management.

ISO 9001 is the quality management system standard implemented by more than one million organizations worldwide and defines a framework for the provision of products and services that consistently meet requirements, improving performance, and enhancing customer satisfaction.

ISO 9001 remains the foundation for effective quality management across industries worldwide. We welcome the publication of the revised standard, which ensures continued relevance in an increasingly dynamic and complex business environment

What has changed?

While the structure of the standard remains familiar, the revision introduces a number of updates designed to reflect changing business realities and align more closely with the latest ISO harmonized structure.

The changes are considered evolutionary rather than revolutionary, helping organizations strengthen performance while maintaining continuity in their management systems.

Transition to ISO 9001:2026

Organizations certified to ISO 9001:2015 will need to transition to the new version within 3 years which is the period defined by the international accreditation community.
