The global ferry segment comprises RoPax vessels, cruise ferries, shuttle ferries and high-speed light craft, and is currently characterized by a lot of older tonnage needing to be replaced and increasingly tough requirements for environmental performance. It is often the first to introduce innovative technology such as battery-electric propulsion, using LNG and hydrogen as alternative fuels and, increasingly, autonomous operations.
