Industrial semantic interoperability summit 2026

Turning semantic interoperability into industrial competitiveness in an AI-driven world

Join this three-day event, hosted by DNV in association with POSC Caesar Association (PCA) and Standards Norway, at DNV Høvik, just outside Oslo, 9-11 June. Experience presentations, hands-on workshops, and networking opportunities to explore where industries are headed and how to maximize the value of semantic interoperability.

Maximize industrial competitiveness

Siloed, non-interoperable data slows productivity across industries. In today’s AI-driven world, seamless data interoperability is essential for innovation and smarter operations.

Over the last few years, significant breakthroughs have been achieved towards meaningful interoperability through the application of semantic technologies in industry and industrial ecosystems.

Whether you are shaping data strategies, building solutions, or transforming operations, this is the forum to connect with peers. It is ideal for leaders, technologists, developers, and decision-makers working with digitalization, data management, and production networks.

By attending, participants will:

  • Learn from leaders and experts from industry and academia
  • Gain deeper insight into the frontier of digital standards for interoperability
  • Engage in hands-on workshops
  • Connect with peers, experts, and key industry players engaged in semantic interoperability work

One expected outcome is to establish a new Implementor Forum. This forum is intended to facilitate collaboration among stakeholders involved in the development and implementation of the new ISO 23726 OBI (Ontology-Based Interoperability) standard family where IDO (Industrial Data Ontology) is a key element.

Registration is open until June 1st

Agenda

The agenda is being developed together with the EU Arrowhead fPVN project. The following provides an overview of the summit. The detailed agenda including speakers is available in the table below.

9 June 2026: Why industries should care about semantic interoperability

Expect keynote presentations, Insights into the fPVN project, which has the bold ambition of doubling industrial productivity through semantic interoperability mechanisms that enable resilient and adaptive value networks. The session will highlight achievements, future directions, and a broad range of use cases.

10 June 2026: What is needed to implement semantic interoperability - Technologies and experiences

Gain first-hand insights into the vision and principles of OBI and IDO. Expect keynotes and presentations from leading experts to set the scene, and we will jointly launch the Implementor Forum to facilitate collaboration among stakeholders through shared efforts.

Evening event: Scenic networking with a boat trip on the Oslo Fjord with food and refreshments.

11 June 2026: How to implement semantic interoperability – An interactive day including the Demonstration marketplace

This day, focus will be on turning ideas into practice: What’s next for the Implementor Forum, and how we organise the work around frameworks and shared resources, drive uptake and scaling, and make it easy to get involved. The day is designed for hands-on exchange with implementers, industry users, software and graph vendors, and ontology experts.

A central feature is the Demonstration Marketplace, an open, standing-room format where participants can showcase solutions and have 1:1 conversation across multiple demo stands. Demonstrators will have a table, large screen connection, internet and power (plus a highchair if needed), with space for visual branding via a roll-up banner or a poster, and the option to cover the full slot or run a demo one hour before or after lunch.
