Houston Phast User Conference 2026
Join us for the Houston Phast User Conference 2026, taking place November 10-11, 2026, at the DNV office in Houston, Texas.
This in-person event brings together Phast, Safeti, and KFX users for two days of practical learning, technical insight, and meaningful discussion with DNV experts and industry peers. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the latest software advancements, hear practical tips and use cases, and take part in conversations focused on real-world modelling challenges.
The agenda will include technical sessions on DNV’s Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) software solutions, including Phast, Safeti, and KFX, with time set aside for questions, discussion, and peer-to-peer networking. On day two, attendees may also join a complimentary training session focused on the Phast computational fluid dynamics (CFD) extensions.

Day 2 | Wednesday, November 11 | Phast CFD extensions training
9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
The second day will include a complimentary training session focused on Phast CFD extensions. This session is designed for users who want a guided introduction to the CFD calculation features available in recent Phast releases.
Phast CFD – pool fires
- Attendees will learn how to apply detailed modelling approaches for standalone pool fire scenarios, including immediate ignition of a pool fixed in size and circular and rectangular pool shapes.
Phast CFD – jet fires
- This section will cover detailed modelling of standalone jet fire scenarios, including how to define jet source terms and calculate source terms from pressure, temperature, and hole size.
Phast CFD – dispersion add-on
- Detailed modelling approaches for flammable, toxic, vapour, two-phase, and liquid releases
- Presenting dispersion results using predefined and user-defined concentration and temperature levels
- Visualizing results through isocontours and isosurfaces
- Visualizing liquid and two-phase releases using spray droplets and pool depth
- Handling toxic release scenarios, including exhaust gas discharges and sour gas leaks
- Advanced CO₂ modelling, including dense phase CO₂ releases and dry-ice particle transport and sublimation
- Improved auto-gridding for large-scale release simulations
- Multicomponent modelling for mixtures
An evaluation license will be provided for attendees of the training session.

Who should attend
This event is designed for new and experienced Phast, Safeti, and KFX users who work with consequence modelling, quantitative risk assessment, and process safety applications. No prior Phast experience is required.
It may be especially relevant for safety analysts, process design engineers, operators, regulators, insurers, engineering contractors, consultants, and others who need to carry out or interpret consequence modelling calculations. The day two training may also be useful for users who are familiar with standard Phast workflows and would like a guided introduction to the CFD calculation features introduced in recent releases.
