The so-called “Draghi report” highlights Europe’s declining competitiveness, particularly compared with the US and China. Among the factors contributing to this are low productivity growth, limited innovation, excessive regulation and time-consuming bureaucratic processes.

This session will explore what these challenges mean for Norway, and in particular for the aquaculture industry. Bringing together perspectives from both industry and public authorities, the discussion will consider how Norway can strengthen competitiveness, drive innovation and support sustainable growth in the sector.

In this session, some of the country’s leading companies and experts will share their experiences, perspectives and insights. How will companies further develop their post-smolt strategies? Is land-based production of food fish economically sustainable? And what is needed to optimise production at the intersection of biology, technology and processes?

The seminar provides practical, applicable knowledge and is relevant for managers and operational personnel across the aquaculture value chain, including fish farmers, technology suppliers, fish health advisors and regulatory authorities.

Disease, infection pressure and sea lice do not stop at company boundaries. Many of the aquaculture industry’s most pressing challenges could therefore benefit from greater collaboration, data sharing and a stronger shared understanding of risk.
