This standard (ST) provides principles and technical requirements for rotor blades for both onshore and offshore wind turbines.
The objectives of this ST are to:
- Provide an internationally acceptable level of safety and reliability by defining minimum requirements for rotor blades of wind turbines (in combination with referenced standards, recommended practices, guidelines, etc.)
- Serve as a design basis for designers, suppliers, manufacturers, purchasers, and regulators
- Specify requirements for wind turbines subject to certification
- Provide recommendations designed to produce a higher level of reliability than the minimum requirements
- Encourage development in the industry by providing guidance and recommendations above typical industry practice.
