In this position paper we will discuss predictive maintenance as applied to solar photovoltaic (PV) plants. Predictive maintenance is used in many industries today. As work, processes and procedures are digitized and digitalized, the data required for predictive maintenance is increasingly becoming more available, and at the same time expectations of improvements, efficiencies and a general reduction of the levelized cost of energy (LCoE) are becoming more pronounced.
