The expected energy production from a wind farm is a key input into many aspects of a wind project’s lifecycle, including most importantly the modelling of the expected financial returns over the lifetime of the project. DNV has been producing Energy Production Assessments (EPAs) of proposed wind farms for over 35 years.

The validation presented in this paper includes an update of the UK validation undertaken in 2014. This is however now split into Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales), with Northern Ireland being considered as part of the island of Ireland (with the island treated as a single market segment).

The validations presented for Ireland and South Africa are the first validations published for these markets in the industry, and it is hoped that these will provide valuable insights to market stakeholders.
