Sector coupling, the integration of different sectors driven by electrification, can bring major opportunities to industry, including procuring power at favourable costs, as energy sourcing becomes increasingly important. Sector coupling will also have a positive impact on the business case for renewables. But new infrastructure, grid connection regulations and taxation schemes will be essential to realize its full potential. In this report we aim to provide insight into the market coupling effect of sector coupling based on quantitative analyses of the impact of sector coupling on energy demand and energy prices.
