Joint industry project: Lifetime extension of offshore wind turbines

Offshore wind turbines are generally designed and certified for a lifetime of 20 to 25 years. However, as many of these turbines approach the end of their original design lifetime, the question arises: Is there an efficient way to operate wind turbines beyond their design lifetime?

Certification plays a vital role in the lifetime extension of offshore wind turbines. The Standard DNV-ST-0262 Lifetime extension of wind turbines and the accordant Service Specification DNV-SE-0263 Certification of lifetime extension of wind turbines provide a comprehensive framework for assessing and certifying the extended life of wind turbines.

To ensure that these standards are up-to-date and include latest knowledge for offshore wind turbines and projects, DNV will start a joint industry project (JIP).

Register for one of our upcoming workshops to get valuable insights and information about the JIP, including its objectives, scope, and the benefits it aims to deliver.
