Earn your postgraduate diploma from WMU and DNV GL and have the opportunity to receive it from the IMO Secretary-General at the WMU graduation ceremony.

Registration is available until 17th of August for two Postgraduate Diplomas offered by the World Maritime University (WMU) in cooperation with DNV GL Maritime Academy. Classes begin on the 10 September 2018. This is your last chance to join the class of 2018/2019!

The “Executive Maritime Management” (EMM) Postgraduate Diploma is designed for managers and future leaders in the maritime industry. It provides you with the up-to-date skills and comprehensive knowledge to address ongoing technical, regulatory and commercial developments. Leaders must also be proactive and anticipate future challenges and opportunities. Up-to-date skills and comprehensive knowledge are essential to retain a competitive edge. The five modules in the programme cover the key safety, technology, financial, environmental and leadership issues of the maritime industry.

The “Maritime Safety and Security” (MSS) Postgraduate Diploma is designed for individuals in the private sector who manage and supervise tasks associated with the safe and secure conduct of shipping operations, as well as for individuals in the government sector who focus on enforcement of regulations in the extended domains of maritime safety and security. Professionals who are involved in assessing associated deficiencies, including ways to alleviate them, will also benefit from the programme. The MSS Programme covers all safety-related aspects from transport and shipping operations, environmental considerations, maritime safety requirements and legal aspects of maritime security to best practice in port management.

Both programmes are offered by distance learning using the latest technology that includes an advanced e-learning platform to which only registered students have access. Through the e-learning platform, participants have access to video lectures from each expert, self-study material and access to WMU’s online library materials.

The programme is completed entirely by distance learning and allows flexibility for your schedule as well as location.

The 11-month programme includes five modules with each module beginning approximately every eight weeks.

Upon the successful completion of your postgraduate diploma, you will have the option to participate in the annual WMU Graduation Ceremony in Malmö, Sweden. At this graduation ceremony, you will join the WMU Ph.D., M.Sc. and Postgraduate Diploma graduates for the conferring of degrees by the Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) who serves as the Chancellor of WMU.

WMU graduates are proven leaders in the maritime sector. The current Secretary-General, Mr. Kitack Lim, is a 1991 graduate of the University. WMU provides valuable knowledge to succeed, and alumni join an extended network of maritime and ocean leaders from around the world. Once you have completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Executive Maritime Management or the Postgraduate Diploma in Maritime Safety and Security you are part of the WMU community.
